How much does a fence cost in Peterborough?

Most Peterborough homeowners pay $65 to $140 per linear foot installed, depending on material, height, gates and access. A basic chain link dog run can come in under $50 a foot, and a cedar privacy fence with gates usually lands between $90 and $130 a foot. Vinyl and ornamental iron cost more.

Wood or vinyl: which fence is better for Ontario winters?

Both hold up to Ontario winters when they're installed properly. The difference is upkeep and up-front cost: wood costs less today and needs regular staining, while vinyl costs more today and asks nothing of you for decades. What actually ruins either one is shallow posts that heave.

Pool fence rules: what inspectors actually check

In Ontario your pool has to sit inside a compliant enclosure with self-closing, self-latching gates, and inspectors check it before your permit closes. Most municipalities around here require an enclosure of about 5 ft (1.5 m), built so it can't be climbed, with gates that latch on the pool side. Build it right once and opening day stays on schedule.

How tall can your fence be in Peterborough?

Most backyards in the Peterborough area allow a fence of about 6 ft, while front yards and corner sight triangles are lower. The exact limit depends on your lot, its zoning and whether you're on a corner. That's why we check your address during the free estimate instead of guessing.

Which fence will actually hold your dog?

The best dog fence is one your dog can't dig under, climb over or chew through. On most Kawartha properties that means chain link with a buried edge or a properly built wood privacy run, sized bigger than most people expect and fitted with chew-proof hardware.
